Sagefield Legislative Advocacy - April 2026

President Roger Bazile Jr. has submitted formal opposition to the Louisiana Legislature regarding bills that would place an undue financial and technical burden on our volunteer-run association and crime district. Below are the official letters sent to our Representatives to protect Sagefield’s interests.

As your President, I am currently working with the Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations to protect our community from new state mandates (HB 817 and HB 627).

These bills, as currently written, would impose thousands of dollars in new software, administrative, and video-archiving costs on our neighborhood. I have formally reached out to our State Representatives to demand exemptions for small, volunteer-run associations like Sagefield to ensure our $50 annual dues remain affordable.

We believe in transparency, but we oppose 'unfunded mandates' that divert your dues away from neighborhood maintenance and security."

United Advocacy:

"The Sagefield HOA and CPID are working directly with the Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations to oppose these mandates. The Federation will be representing our interests at the Capitol this Tuesday morning, ensuring our voice is heard by the Committee."

My Next Steps for You

  • Tuesday, April 7th (9:30 AM): I will monitor the House Civil Law Committee hearing.

  • Tuesday Evening: I will post a summary here for you detailing if the "Small HOA" amendments were adopted and the status of the $50 dues protection.
